  • Cabinetry Technical Designer

    Job Description Isla Porter is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Kitchen Technical Designer to serve as the technical backbone of our cabinetry projects. This role supports client-facing work by translating design intent into precise, build-ready documentation, including custom shop drawings, construction detailing, hardware and component research, and factory order paperwork coordination. You will partner closely with our sales team, vendors, and outsourced drafting partners to ensure accuracy from concept through order submission. Acting as the central resource for construction and product information, you will review and validate orders, confirm manufacturing details with the factory, and help uphold the technical standards that define the Isla Porter brand. Key Responsibilities Serve as the technical expert on the Isla Porter product line and design standards. Translate sales intent into build-ready documentation, including shop drawings, models, elevations, and custom quote forms. Act as final technical sign-off authority on cabinetry orders prior to vendor submission. Review all 2020 files, outsourced drafting work, and order forms for technical accuracy and install feasibility. Partner with factory and vendors to confirm construction details, facilitate custom requests, and drive orders to final approval. Manage vendor communication, timelines, and project trackers to ensure seamless order execution. Create installation guides and troubleshoot field issues with contractors as needed. Order and communicate timing for order replacement parts and remedials on jobs as needed. Maintain and improve Isla Porter’s spec book, SKUs, and technical catalog in collaboration with PD and drafting teams. Develop or contribute feedback to SOPs and training resources to educate Sales on product features and technical limitations. Identify process gaps and implement system improvements to support operational scale. Qualifications 5–8+ years of experience in kitchen cabinetry design, millwork drafting, or residential construction documentation. Strong expertise in framed cabinetry construction (inset experience preferred). Experience reviewing and finalizing cabinetry orders for production. Proficiency in AutoCAD and parametric platforms (Mozaik or similar); familiarity with 2020 required. Strong working knowledge of cabinetry spec books and rule-based SKU systems. Experience collaborating with architects, designers, contractors, and manufacturing partners. Highly organized, detail-oriented, and systems-driven.
