What’s the difference between working with Isla Porter and an interior designer?
Our team is fully equipped to get you on your way to a truly amazing dream kitchen. We are experienced kitchen design professionals with a history of working with clients remotely — and our job is to deliver you a beautiful, functional kitchen design and cabinetry to complete it. But we leave the rest to you! Our design process includes full finish selection like paint, hardware, countertops, flooring and lighting, but we leave the final purchasing decisions to our clients. Interior designers create a unique design experience and execute projects in their own signature styles. They also provide services like procurement, receiving, warehousing, accessory styling, project planning and more. If those services sound like something you’re interested in, shoot us an email at hello@islaporter.com and we’ll connect you to someone amazing.
Our Process
What's your typical project timeline?
From design kickoff to delivery, most projects take about 16–24 weeks. This includes your design presentation, revisions, final approval, and production. Customizations like new finishes or door styles may extend that timeline slightly—but we’ll always keep you informed.
What does the design process include?
We offer floor plan generation and review, 3D color renderings, two rounds of design revisions, and a dedicated Project Lead to guide you through the entire process. We also send finish swatches and door samples to help you make decisions with confidence.
What is the Isla Porter app?
We’ve partnered with leading AI innovators and spatial capture pros to create a seamless, and accurate measurement capture experience. You can download the Isla Porter App and instantly scan your space. The average scan takes about 10 minutes to execute and a 3D Model of your space is generated in our backend instantly. This is all we need to start the process and understand your space!
What kind of hardware do I need to complete a scan of my space?
You will need a LIDAR enabled device which includes the Apple Pro and Pro Max models of the iPhone 12, 13, 14, and 15, as well as the third-generation 11-inch and fifth-generation 12.9-inch iPad Pro models from 2020 and later.
I don't have an iPhone or iPad Pro, how can I complete a scan of my space?
We’re happy to lend homeowners one of our Isla Porter Pro iPads to execute your scan. Just let your designer know during your initial call or request one during your intake survey.
How accurate are the measurements taken from the scan?
Measurements taken with LIDAR technology have shown to be 99% accurate—which is better than most people with a tape measure! This is a great starting point for the designer phase, but in order to ensure complete accuracy, we require manual confirmation from someone on site before order placement.
I'm working on a new build, can I work with you?
Yes! Our team can intake any existing plans you have in lieu of a measurement scan. You will have a chance to upload these in the intake survey.
I've already started demo, can I still scan?
Yes! With our instruction, the app can accommodate for major changes that are already underway in your space.
I already have a design, can I still work with you?
Yes! We can work from existing plans at any stage. Our team of millwork and kitchen design experts will review your plans and translate those in to the Isla product line.
Are robots designing my kitchen?
Not exactly! Our team of experts work hand in hand with you to harness the power of AI to optimize the kitchen design process. There will be plenty of human eyes checking the work every step of the way from architects, to engineers and millwork specialists.
